Rodney Crick, the six-times Australian Supertruck Racing champion, has died suddenly.
Crick, who was 47, made his truck racing debut in the 1990’s alongside well-known Kiwi Ian ‘Inky’ Tulloch. He would later race an ex-Garry Willmington Shell 12-litre Volvo N12.
He won the first of his haul of truck series championships in 1992.
Crick was also a regular competitor in privateer entries at the Bathurst 1000 in the 1990’s, often mixing car racing with the thunderous and entertaining trucks.
Sydney driver-training identity Ian Luff would refer to Crick as Captain Kangaroo in relation to his role as leader of the Australian team in the Trans-Tasman Championship.
