The Compareinsurance.com.au by Motionsport Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 has qualified 11th in class A Am for the 2015 Bathurst 12hr at the iconic Mount Panorama racing circuit, with a time of 2:05.57.

Piloting the Aston Martin are Pete Storey, Ben Gower and 2012 BTCC Champ, Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden.

During the hot qualifying sessions the Motionsport prepared GT3 performed without fault and the drivers maintained good pace throughout despite there being a number of red flag stoppages caused by other cars.

With all three drivers completing their scheduled laps during the first one hour session, it was down to Shedden to take on a set of new Michelin soft compound slick tyres and push into the second 20 minute shoot out session for class A cars.

With track temperatures hitting 55 degrees, Shedden achieved a time that would have placed him in the top 10 overall in 2014, such is the competition at the mountain this year.

Team Principal, Simon Phillips claims ‘I’m very pleased with the performance of the guys during qualifying. We’re the second quickest Aston and we’ve kept it out of trouble and we look like we’re going to have really good pace over the 12 hours.’

‘This the first time we’ve run a GT3 here and we’ve done very, very few testing miles. The drivers have done what they’re asked and kept the car clean for the race. You have Pete and Ben’s first time out in a GT3 ever.’ Continues Phillips.
