Tyre tender opens for GT3 Cup Challenge

MEDIA RELEASE: Porsche Cars Australia has opened the tender for the control tyre supply for its one-make series, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia, for the 2016 and 2017 racing seasons.

The six-round one-make series primarily races at the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals and has featured 20+ grids at the opening two rounds of the 2015 season. Strong interest has also been received by potential new entries for the remaining 2015 rounds and beyond.

“GT3 Cup Challenge is in a very strong position as the foundation of the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid,” said Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport Manager, Kurt Sakzewski.

“We are seeing great levels of participation and anticipate a very strong future for the category. With the current tyre supply agreement concluding at the end of 2015 we have begun the tender process to establish our tyre supplier for the coming seasons.”

The series raced with Michelin tyres from its inception in 2008 up until the end of the 2012 season, from which time it has raced with Pirelli.
