Top Chefs and Supercars join forces for Clipsal cookup fundraiser
MEDIA RELEASE: Some of South Australia’s best chefs will join Supercars drivers on Thursday February 16 for a night of food and fun to raise money for OzHarvest.
OzHarvest is this year’s Clipsal 500 Adelaide charity partner, and will fire the starter’s gun for Adelaide’s 2017 Supercars festival with a unique fundraising event at Bowden’s Plant 4.
The Cook Up 500 event will see top local chefs – including Simon Bryant, Duncan Welgemoed, Rosa Matto, Callum Hahn, Chris Jarmer and Saskia Beer – cook 500 meals to distribute to vulnerable South Australians.
Guests will cook alongside the chefs to prepare the meals, and then enjoy a magnificent meal featuring fine South Australian produce and local wines.
Supercars driver Lee Holdsworth, from the Preston Hire Racing team, will be a special guest at the event, and those attending will be able to test their driving skills against Lee in a Scalextric racing challenge.
OzHarvest’s Founder and CEO Ronni Khan will also be a special guest at the event.
OzHarvest’s South Australian State Manager Hayley Everuss said the not-for-profit organisation was aiming to raise $150,000 through the charity partnership with the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
“This will enable us to deliver 300,000 thousand more meals to individuals and families in need throughout South Australia,” she said.
“Cook Up 500 is a fun way to raise awareness about the great work OzHarvest does within the South Australian community, as well as raising important funds and providing meals for South Australians in need.
“We’re very grateful that so many of Adelaide’s top chefs, and a number of our state’s best food producers, are donating their time and products for this special event.”
Tickets for Cook Up 500 are $195, and can be purchased through www.trybooking.com/nyys
