For far too many years interstate drivers rolled into Geelong’s Avalon Raceway and more often than not they cleaned up at the cashier’s booth.

Not so these days, thanks to the brilliance of national champion David Murcott, Jamie Veal, Steven Lines, transplanted Tasmanian

Shaun Dobson, Darren Mollenoyux and veteran victory legend Johnny Vogels.

They have turned around the prize money cash deficit big time and more of the same is on the cards at Avalon Raceway tomorrow night.

The quarter mile clay has posted a ten grand winning pay cheque to the winner of the Jackpot, a no holds barred 12 lap belter with the 10 top qualifiers.

WA iron man Robbie Farr and James McFadden are the two tipped to give the Vics more opposition than Jamie Whincup offers the V8 Supercar challengers.

The Combined Waste sponsored Jackpot is unique in that the 35 entrants compete in two 25 lap qualifiers.

Two semi finals are next up with the first six from each make a 12 car time trial muster from where the top 10 constitute the field for the 10 lap Jackpot with fastest to the front.

Avalon Raceway organiser Jeff Drew devised the format and the Jackpot is the obvious season launch in Geelong.

Racing commences at 7.00 p.m. sharp following warm ups.
