MEDIA RELEASE: One of the most dominant forces of Sandown enduro racing is making a comeback, with HDT announcing the re-launch of its official merchandise range.
The Holden Dealer Team ruled the longest-running race venue in the history of the top-level touring car category throughout the golden era of Australian Touring Cars.
Peter Champion, owner of HDT says the launch of the all-new range represents the first phase in a strategy to bring the classic Australian brand back to the front of mind by capitalising on its history.
“We want people to reconnect with the brand, by reliving our race wins, remembering our champion race cars and drivers.
“HDT is one of the most revered motor racing teams in Australian history and we’re pleased to offer its fans the opportunity to once again wear HDT Genuine Product.
“It’s been a long time since HDT Genuine Product merchandise was available, so we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that the HDT Genuine Product range raises the bar, bringing superior quality and style back to motoring merchandise,” said Champion.
The HDT Genuine Product merchandise designs pays homage to classic moments in Australian motor racing, such as Peter Brock’s brutal Bathurst victories in 1978 and ’79 driving the HDT A9X Torana and the 40th anniversary of Colin Bond’s 1975 Australian Touring Car Championship win in the HDT L34 Torana.
Champion says the relaunch of HDT Genuine Product merchandise was timed for the weekend of the Sandown 500 as a nod to the success that the Holden Dealer Team enjoyed at the event.
“HDT won this event eight times, six of those victories with Peter Brock at the wheel.
“It’s also the traditional Bathurst opener and we want everyone to know that HDT is heading back to The Mountain this year,” said Champion.
The first round of designs features t-shirts and keyrings, expanding to a full line of merchandise which will include caps, stubby coolers and a kids’ and women’s range.
