So far we have had a fresh chassis arrive at the Matt Stone Racing workshop, revealed to everyone our new naming rights partner for 2017 – Bigmate and just recently completed our pre-season testing before the transporter makes its journey to the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
As we did in 2016, the team and I elected to have a back-to-back test day at our official test track, Queensland Raceway, Ipswich.
Our testing program was super busy but more importantly super successful. The team at Matt Stone Racing did a superb job in preparation for the test days and their work during the two days was faultless. Really fortunate to have such a great crew working with me again in 2017.
My first day behind the wheel was all about getting comfortable in the new chassis. I was changing things like seating, steering and pedal positions plus producing consistent lap times and understanding the differences between my new and old chassis.
My engineer, Wes McDougall made key changes to the car to suit my liking and we made huge progress towards the end of the day. This provided us with good direction of what to work on for day two.
The second day was all about making the small demon tweaks to the car and fully understanding how to maximize the potential of my new 2017 chassis. We again made great progress and by the end of the day we were producing some very handy lap times which gives us good confidence heading into the season opener of the Super2 Dunlop Series!
It’s been a huge start to 2017 already! Really excited to see what we can achieve this season.
