Sam Gollschewsky is currently enjoying an impressive 2018-19 season campaign in the Modlites class that includes back-to-back feature race victories over the Christmas-New Year period.

Following what was a pleasing introduction into the Modlites class last season, which saw him claim his maiden feature race win at Lismore Speedway (NSW), along with breaking the one-lap track records at both Lismore Speedway and Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway, Gollschewsky has well and truly continued to build on his momentum.

Visiting victory lane twice in just five days over the Christmas-New Year period, the 25-year-old racer scored the biggest achievement of his Modlites career at Archerfield Speedway, taking a convincing win against what was a tough field, before backing up this result at Grafton Speedway (NSW).

These wins came off the back of a string of minor podium finishes, including an impressive third-place finish in the Victorian Title at Portland’s Southern 500 Speedway and a second-place feature-race finish last night at Archerfield Speedway.

“To come away with a couple of feature-race wins is a pretty amazing feeling, along with some other solid results, that are showing our good speed,” said the driver of the Qld # 74 McKean Concreting / ID Designs backed Five Star car, who resides in the Brisbane (Qld) suburb of Bracken Ridge.

“We’re really pleased with how our introduction into Modlites has gone so far, and the plan for the future is to continue to learn and improve.”

Having followed speedway from a young age, with his dad Mark often encouraging him to get involved as a competitor, it wasn’t until the 2017-18 season that Gollschewsky, who had some previous recreational drifting experience, made the move into Modlites, being attracted to the competitive and cost-effective nature of the class.

Initially running a Five Star car in his debut season, Gollschewsky was involved in an incident during last season’s Australian Title at Archerfield Speedway, which ultimately resulted in his car being heavily damaged.

Coincidentally, Gollschewsky later piloted Prosser’s Modlite, after it had been purchased by his friend Joel Smith, experiencing a successful run, before purchasing the ex-Jake McGrath Five Star car in readiness for this season.

In addition to running locally throughout the remainder of the 2018-19 season, Gollschewsky plans to contest multiple title events which are all set to take place in the busy month of April, commencing with the South Australian Title at Bordertown’s Tolmer Speedway on April 6, the Queensland Title at Archerfield Speedway on April 20, and the Australian Title at Kingaroy Speedway (Qld) on April 26 and 27.

Now turning his attention to what will be an action-packed weekend, Gollschewsky will be participating in this Saturday night’s Cowboy Cup and Sunday night’s club show, both at Maryborough Speedway.

Gollschewsky would like to thank his 2018-19 season sponsors: McKean Concreting, ID Designs, Crown Pools Super Store, and Tune Tech Services. He would also like to give special thanks to his dad( Mark), and Daniel Jones from Blackjack Motorsport.
