Storer’s standout season continues

The 2018-19 season has no doubt been the best one yet for Luke Storer, whose latest highlight occurred last Saturday night when he was awarded the Victorian Wingless Sprint Title at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway.

Experiencing stellar form throughout what is his fourth season with the class, Storer has reached new heights since ringing in the New Year aboard his Vic # 33 Castrol / Bill Storer Motors supported Maxim.

Just two weeks after winning his maiden feature race and also taking out the overall Summer Slam Series, the 21-year-old driver was riding a wave of confidence heading into the Victorian Title, but with almost 80 cars nominated for the event, he knew that it was going to be difficult.

Performing strongly throughout qualifying and the 30-lap feature race, the result solidifies what has been an unparalleled season for Storer.

“The Victorian Title is such a hotly-contested event and the competition is so tough, so to be able to perform consistently throughout is definitely something for the team to be proud of,” explained Storer, who greeted the chequered flag in second place, but was awarded the Victorian Title win due to the initial winner being disqualified.

“It wasn’t really the way I wanted to win, but I’m pleased that I was able to put myself in a front-running position to do so, and I have my hard-working team to thank for that.”

With this season’s Australian Championship being held at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway from February 21 to 23, this recent string of pleasing results couldn’t have come at a better time for Storer, who is hoping to be able to continue his current momentum throughout the event.

“Our recent achievements have definitely given us more added confidence heading into the Australian Championship, but we’re not kidding ourselves that it’s going to be easy,” added Storer, who qualified on the outside of the front row at the last Warrnambool meeting when the race was declared.

“There are almost 120 cars nominated for the event from all over the country, so just to make the feature race will be an achievement in itself. We’re not getting ahead of ourselves in terms of expectations, but we’re certainly going to give it our all.”

The Storer Motorsport team would like to thank their 2018-19 season sponsors: Castrol Edge, Bill Storer Motors, Repco – Portland, The Royal Hotel – Portland, Allstar Graphics, Wurth Australia, and RPC Auto Electrical. Special thanks also must go out to the team’s hard-working pit crew, family and friends.
