State Sprintcar title this Saturday night at Bairnsdale Speedway

Speedway fan’s this Saturday night will be treated to a terrific night of racing with the Victorian Sprintcar title for Victorian Speedway Council Sprintcars the headline event of the evening with Steven Horton from Bacchus Marsh set to defend his title against all of Bairnsdale’s best in action against him. Expect to see Adam Greenwood, Dennis Jones, Dillon Siely, and Alistair Bastian amongst those gunning for the number one.

Supporting the Sprintcar action will be the Victorian Speedway Council Open Standard Saloons, Ladies Standard Saloons, and Division 2 Hot Rods.

Horton after a title win at Redline Raceway last season will try to go back to back in the backyard of East Gippsland’s strongest competitors with others from the Latrobe Valley also competing. Jones the multiple times champion of the class from Traralgon will also compete with Greenwood the winner last weekend at Redline Raceway and his team mate Alastair Bastian strapping in their machines also. Dillon Siely is more than capable of a big result whilst Nigel Laity, Roddy Dennison, and Andrew Nielsen have all had strong results this year at times, and a big podium result is not beyond them.

Standard Saloons will compete also, and the defending Victorian champion Jacob Vuillermin returns to competition. He has yet to be seen at Bairnsdale this year after victory last season in the title at the venue. Vuillermin will compete with Josh Thomas, Andrew Cormack, Steve Dadswell and Nick Harnett amongst others keen on a win.

Division 2 Hot Rod’s return with Bobby Devine this season’s gun driver leading the nominations. Ben Crittenden has been good this year, Mel Tatterson is always consistent and Allan Sell looks to be a likely front runner quick enough, once he gets a few more races under his belt.

A local contingent of the Ladies Standard Saloon racers will also have a go on Saturday night with Jo Richardson, Kate Stuchbery, Elise Halliday, Sammi Cormack and Leticia Williams all on track. Stuchbery is the most experienced of the nominations, whilst Richardson had a great showing at the recent state title for Ladies and seems close to a feature win.

Racing will kick off at 5:30pm. Enquiries on the day of racing only, can be made to 0458 617 910, all other enquiries can be made via the clubs website at www.bairnsdalespeedway.com.au

Entry for this Saturday night and right through the season is $25 per adult ticket, $20 for adult club membership holders. $20 for aged pensioners, children aged 12 to 16 $8 or a family ticket $60 for two adults and two children 12 to 16, all children under twelve are free to enter.
