In the coming weeks, Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway will play host to two wild weekends of action, which have Speedcar drivers throughout Australia and even overseas raring to take to the track as they attempt to earn top honours in the back to back NSW Title and Sydney City 50 Lap Classic.
While these two events are staples on the annual Speedcar calendar, this season they’ll be bigger and better than ever, with the Sydney City 50 Lap Classic being fought out over a massive two nights of racing on May 3 and 4, directly following the NSW Title on the Saturday night of April 27.
With drivers continuing to lock themselves into what will no doubt be the largest two weekends of their season, a significant contingent of 11 New Zealanders have also joined the fray, looking to assert their dominance over the natives, who are so far being represented by drivers from New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.
Not only is their glory on the line to entice drivers to participate, the NSW Title will offer a $5,000 reward to the winner, while the Sydney City 50 Lap Classic boasts a considerable prize purse, offering $5,000 to the winner of Friday night’s preliminary feature race and a whopping $10,000 to whoever comes out on top in Saturday night’s Sydney City 50 Lap Classic-deciding feature race.
“The NSW Title and Sydney City 50 Lap Classic are gearing up to be two huge events that are no doubt going to produce some of the best Speedcar racing we’ve seen,” commented Speedcar Association of NSW President Dean Welfare.
“The nominations continue to pour in and we’re expecting over 50 cars at each event, which will make for some very competitive racing. The healthy rivalry between Australian and New Zealand drivers will also add another exciting element to the proceedings.
“We encourage drivers to get their nominations in to ensure that they can be a part of what are sure to be two of this season’s most prestigious events.”
