Solid WSS start for Krikke Motorsport

The 2019-20 season World Series Sprintcars Championship campaign for Kerry Madsen and the Krikke Motorsport team over the Christmas-New Year period has started with a string of podium finishes.Solid WSS Start for Krikke Motorsport

Despite last Wednesday night’s latest and fifth round at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway ending in a feature-race crash while leading following contact with a rival in second place, which saw them lose the WSS Championship point standings lead, Madsen and the Krikke Motorsport team have recorded a pair of second-place finishes in rounds one and three (Murray Bridge Speedway and Premier Speedway) and a third in round two (Borderline Speedway).

Since the beginning of this season’s World Series Championship campaign, Madsen and the Krikke Motorsport team haven’t qualified outside the top four in any of the feature races and it has resulted in Madsen being able to convert them to podium results.

Although Wednesday night’s crash resulted in Madsen and the Krikke Motorsport team losing their hold of the World Series Championship point standings lead, along with being denied the opportunity of wrapping up the five-round World Series ‘Speedweek Series’ crown.

Now heading into the Queensland swing of the World Series Championship, Madsen and the Krikke Motorsport team sit third in the current point standings behind leader James McFadden and second-placed American Cory Eliason.

The Queensland swing of the World Series Championship begins this Saturday night (January 4) at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway for round six, followed by Sunday night’s seventh round at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway and then Tuesday night’s eighth round at Maryborough Speedway. The latter track being the first time either Madsen or the Krikke Motorsport team have visited the Fraser Coast-based venue.

Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke is very pleased with how Madsen and the team have period during the busiest period of their 2019-20 season campaign.

“Although Kerry’s crash wasn’t the way any of us wanted to end the night in the most recent round and it consequently cost us the World Series points lead, I can’t say enough about all of the hard work the team and Kerry have done and the consistent speed and results they have produced so far,” he said.

“There is still a long way to go in the World Series Championship and hopefully starting this weekend with the Queensland swing of the championship, we can bounce back and attempt to claim our first round win of the season and wrestle back the point standings lead.”

Current WSS Championship Point Standings (after five rounds):
1: James McFadden – 1283 points
2: Cory Eliason – 1237
3: Kerry Madsen – 1184
4: Brock Hallett – 1107
5: Brooke Tatnell – 1021
