Ahead of his 2019-20 season debut this Saturday night at Lismore Speedway for the annual Lord Mayor’s Cup, Mark Robinson has been deep in preparation to commence his campaign, which will once again consist of a host of blue-ribbon events.
Off the back of what was a largely positive 2018-19 season, despite some challenges, Robinson’s efforts during the hotly-contested 5 Star Dirt Series, which included a pleasing fifth-place finish in the Australian Championship, runner-up in the Victorian Title and victories in both the Garden State Shield and final 5 Star Dirt Series round, were enough to award him second place overall; a result he’ll be looking to build on this season.
Piloting his trademark NSW # 9 Castrol / Southside Truck Centre backed Troyer, the Lismore, NSW-based driver plans to contest as many race meetings as possible throughout the east coast, hoping to reclaim the 5 Star Dirt Series crown after his 2017-18 dominance, with the series being fought out over numerous titles and other banner events.
“We definitely experienced both the highs and lows of racing last season, with a few DNFs and some setup issues in title events greatly affecting our points haul in the 5 Star Dirt Series,” explained Robinson, who will no doubt be riding a wave of confidence during his first hit out for the season after closing last season with a feature-race win.
“We’re looking forward to getting back out on track this Saturday night and picking up where we left off, while hopefully improving on some of last season’s performances as the season progresses. It’s all going to be about consistency and trying to make sure there’s nothing preventing us from finishing each race.”
