Mazda RX8 Cup Series regular, and sometimes Prodsports racer, Sam Silvestro is well known for his red race cars – because everyone knows red is faster. However, for this weekend’s second round of the Cup Series at Morgan Park (April 6-7), Sam is going yellow!
To date, Sam and the S-Sport team have not been happy with the performance of their red #55 RX8 Cup car. Despite their persistent efforts, they’ve struggled to find the cause of its mysterious lack of power.
That all changes this weekend, with Sam stepping into the team’s yellow lease car – which usually wears #22.
Several drivers had expressed interest in leasing the yellow car for this weekend, however time and distance were not in anyone’s favour. This prompted Sam to go a little yellow and jump into #22 for this round.
“I hope to be able to move up the grid a little from my past results,” says Sam, “maybe even give my son, Ben some hurry up.”
That’s if Ben is still not out celebrating after his bestto-date result of 3rd overall, at round one.
Action kicks off early Saturday (April 6), with Blendline TV covering Sunday’s races – which will air post-event as a TV highlights package. This meeting also forms Round 2 of the newly-created, AMRS series.
