Toby Price has kept the race win tally ticking over for the Sieders Racing Team in the 2019 ECB SuperUtes Series, taking out Races 2 and 3 in Round 5 of the series at Queensland Raceway on the weekend. 
The Dakar Rally legend qualified fifth and finished sixth in the opening race, before moving swiftly to the lead with some well-judged overtaking moves in the reverse-grid second race.
Price’s finest moment came in Race 3, when he made a brilliant slingshot manoeuvre on the back straight to move from third to first – from there, he was never headed.
Price’s pair of victories enabled him to finish second overall for the round.
Driving the second of the Team Triton entries to third overall was Cameron Crick. Following his victories in the previous two SuperUtes rounds, Crick again showed strong speed, qualifying second and setting the fastest lap in Race 1 on his way to third. Crick repeated both the fastest lap and third-place finish in Race 2, but settled for fourth in the final after a close battle with Craig Woods.
Woods was the best of the Toyota Hilux drivers, bouncing back from a series of miserable weekends aboard the Penrith Toyota entry to finally enjoy a trouble-free weekend. After starting steadily with seventh in qualifying, Woods scored fifth-place finishes in Races 1 and 2 before coming home strongly for third in the final.
Consistency paid dividends for Craig Thompson, who finished sixth overall in the Hertz Hilux with finishes of eighth, 10th and eighth in the three races, while Ben Walsh had hoped for better than eighth place in his Fat Freddy’s Hilux.
Walsh was a genuine contender for victory in Race 1, leading at one stage and eventually finishing second, but the former international open-wheel star was caught in contact with another ute in Race 2, and ultimately retired with mechanical problems. He finished seventh in Race 3.
Jeff Watters was ninth overall in his second-ever SuperUte meeting, while Charlotte Poynting ended the weekend 11th overall, gradually improving her lap times aboard her Mitsubishi Triton while also entertaining the crowd with a few spectacular spins while she came to grips with the ute’s unique handling characteristics.
The next round of the ECB SuperUtes will be held at Mount Panorama Bathurst, 10-13 October.
