Norman eager for season start

Off the back of what was a pleasing comeback to Wingless Sprint racing last season, Josh Norman is hoping to hit the ground running when he gets his 2019 season underway at Darwin’s Northline Speedway in the Northern Territory.

Preparing to contest his fifth season with the class, having taken a break from driver duties in 2017, Norman returned to the track last season aboard his new NT # 18 Steeline NT / Frontier Darwin backed Eagle.

While the season may have initially been a little rocky as he ironed out a few bugs, Norman certainly managed to gain momentum as the season progressed, eventually coming away with third place in the final Wingless Sprints NT Club Championship point standings by virtue of his consistency.

Planning to contest around a dozen race meetings this season, including the newly-introduced Duel in the North Speedweek, which will be fought out over four nights of racing in support of the Sprintcar Chariots of Thunder Series, the 26-year-old driver is hoping to back up last season’s performance for another front-running result.

“We really started to come good towards the end of last season, so we’re hoping to pick up where we left off and be competitive from the outset this time around,” Norman explained.

“Last season was all about getting used to the new car and now that we’ve done that, we’re really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve, particularly during the Duel in the North Speedweek, which is an exciting addition to the calendar.”

Once again working together with Norman this season, Jarrod Goldoni, the pilot of the NT # 81 Steeline NT / Frontier Darwin supported Maxim car, will also be joined by his brother Daniel, who has previously competed in Wingless Sprints for a Sydney, NSW-based car owner. Daniel will fill the driver’s seat of the ex-Steven Lines NT # 5 KPC car.

The first outing for the trio will be on the Saturday night of May 11 for the opening round of the Wingless Sprints NT Club Championship at Northline Speedway.

Norman and the Goldoni brothers would like to thank their 2019 season sponsors: Steeline NT, Frontier Darwin, NTF Construction Supply Specialists, Ferguson’s Diesel Services – Mount Gambier, and Northline Transport. Special thanks must go out to Adrian Ferguson for all his ongoing support.
