A $50,000 prize including a fully paid entry for the five-round 2020 APC season will be up for grabs across the 2019 MRF Tyres Australian Production Cars season with the category announcing the new MRF Tyres Team Award.
The MRF Tyres Team Award will reward the car (regardless of drivers) which has amassed the most points across the year using a handicap system similar to that used in the state production car championships (see below for the points table), giving every team an equal chance to win regardless of their class.
The winning team will receive:
- A fully paid 2020 APC season (five-rounds) entry
- Eight free MRF Tyres for every 2020 APC round
- Free race fuel for the first round of the 2020 APC season thanks to RaceFuels
- A $10,000 Jacuzzi Spas voucher
- A $100 Hog’s Breath dinner voucher for each 2020 APC round
To be eligible for the award, the team/car must compete at a minimum of four rounds of the 2019 MRF Tyres Australian Production Car season.
“We are very excited to announce this new Award for our competitors,” MRF Tyres APC Category Manager, Iain Sherrin, said.
“With some great backing from our sponsors including MRF Tyres, Jacuzzi Spas, RaceFuels and Hog’s Breath, this Award will recognise the best overall car of the season regardless of their class or drivers.
“With a handicap system in place and plenty of competition assured for what is a great prize worth fifty thousand dollars, we can’t wait to see how the battle plays out for the MRF Tyres Team Award in 2019.”
The 2019 MRF Tyres Australian Production Cars season kicks off at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 1-3 with the Sydney 240 event. Early bird entries for the event close this Friday, February 1.
