Two out of three race wins for Angelo Mouzouris at Wakefield Park has seen him extend his lead at the top of the standings heading to the final round at Phillip Island. 
The four-car Sonic Motor Racing Services squad locked out the front row in Qualifying as Callum Hedge scored his second pole position of the year ahead of Mouzouris, with Jay Hanson and Courtney Prince also qualifying in the top seven.
Hedge and Mouzouris fought for second in Race 1 before Mouzouris passed Hedge on the final lap while negotiating lapped traffic.
Hedge was battling in the top five during Race 2 before he swerved to avoid Jake Donaldson who speared across the track after a mechanical failure at Turn 1 on Lap 4.
Hedge recovered back to ninth and then to seventh in Race 3, as Mouzouris convincingly won Race 2 and 3 in lights-to-flag efforts.
Courtney Prince enjoyed a weekend of strong pace and battled well inside the top ten, bagging results of seventh, sixth and eighth respectively.
Jay Hanson was caught up in an incident in Race 1 and taken out of contention, but showed a mature head and strong pace to charge from 19th to eighth in Race 2, and up to fourth in Race 3 and within striking distance of the lead pack.
After the penultimate round of the series, Mouzouris stretched out his series lead on 257 points to lead Zac Soutar by 28 points, with Hedge in fifth on 196, Hanson seventh and Prince eighth.
The seventh and final round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship heads to Phillip Island on September 27-29.

“It’s been a really great weekend at Wakefield Park to extend our lead at the top of the championship,” said Angelo Mouzouris.
“The crew at Sonic Motor Racing Services delivered a great car once again, we had strong pace in both races today and we were able to build a good gap after the safety car interventions to take the win.
“The championship is definitely in the back of my mind, the final round at Phillip Island will be about managing that points gap and doing what we can to aim for that title.
“It’s been seven years in the making since I started go karting, so it’s always been a dream of mine to win the Australian Formula Ford Championship so we’ll be putting our best foot forward when we get to Phillip Island.”

“It started off really well, then it got average, then it got slightly better,” said Callum Hedge.
“Pole was nice, but I got caught up by a Kent car in Race 1, so dropped back to P3, which wasn’t too bad.
“I almost got cleaned up by Jake when his brakes failed at the start of the race. Luckily everyone was OK and the cars weren’t too badly damaged. It could have been a lot of worse.
“I managed to work my way forward in the last race. It was a difficult one.
“We’ve done a bit of testing at Phillip Island, so hopefully we can get a win there. In terms of results, we’ve had a drought, so we’ll see how it goes.”

#4, Sonic Motor Racing/AWC Motorsport Academy
QUALIFYING – 7th

“We were a little unlucky in Race 1. Unfortunately, we got taken out,” said Jay Hansen.
“I was able to move forward from last into eighth in the second race and we were able to be fourth in the last race.
“I’m really looking forward to Phillip Island. It’s our home track, we’ve done some testing there and we are confident that we can get a decent result.”

“It was a good weekend, and great to be in the front pack,” said Courtney Prince.
“It was a solid weekend as a whole, which is something that we’ve been searching for, but it was really close and I’m really happy.
“I’m looking forward to the final round at Phillip Island. It’s one of my favourite tracks, and made even better by the close racing and the slip streaming.”
