Lowe primed for dirt return

AFTER an absence of nearly 20 years, Brad Lowe is all set for his return to speedway racing, where he will get back behind the wheel of a V8 Dirt Modified this Saturday night at Eastern Creek Speedway.

Lowe, who comes from a V8 Supercar and Formula Ford background since the last occasion he competed in speedway back in early 2004, is really looking forward to jumping back into a V8 Dirt Modified, which is the NSW # 12 Troyer out of the Gardiner Motorsport / Corbett Boys Racing stable.

Regular driver Brock Gardiner is stepping out of the car in order to give Lowe, aged 38, the opportunity to drive a V8 Dirt Modified again.

“My family and I have become friends with Brad through work in recent years and he has come onboard as a sponsor, and with his background in motorsport, I’ve been trying to get him into my car for about 12 months now,” explained Gardiner, who will jumped back behind the wheel of his NSW # 12 car for the Queensland Title at Toowoomba Speedway on the Saturday night of May 27.

“It has all come together for everyone this Saturday night for Brad to get back behind the wheel, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes, especially since the last time he raced speedway, he has raced V8 Supercars in the Bathurst 1000 and competed all around the country in a range of tar racing categories, so he certainly has a lot of experience behind him.”

The year 2004 at Parramatta City Raceway was the last occasion Lowe competed in speedway, which was aboard his family owned V8 Dirt Modified. When it comes to speedway, Brad’s dad Brendan competed in V8 Dirt Modifieds during the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2001 at the Perth Motorplex, the family achieved Australian Title success as car owners with Scott Cannon as their driver.

“This Saturday night is going to be a lot of fun, and I’m very thankful to the Gardiner family for giving me this opportunity to race a V8 Dirt Modified again,” Lowe enthused.

“The Gardiner family have provided me with a very strong car, so my goals for Saturday night are to get out there and stay out of trouble and hopefully I can improve as the night goes on.”
