Level playing field for Cam Walton at The Bend

Level playing field for Cam Walton at The BendSydney based British racer, Cam Walton is looking forward to having a local connection when he races in the Toyota 86 Racing Series at The Bend Motorsport Park for the first time this weekend.

Even though British born and raised Walton decided to call Sydney home when he moved to Australia, he holds a strong family connection with South Australia, with many of his extended family based in and around Adelaide, where his mother grew up.

It’ll be the first time since making the move to Australia that Walton will have a significant family presence to cheer him on, with both his South Australian and UK based family making the trip to support him this weekend.

“This is going to be a big event for me with family coming over from the UK and out from Adelaide to watch me race,” said Walton.

“Having the support of family this time will make a big difference. Racing has always been such a family endeavour for me – ever since my first season in 2014. Just me and my dad travelling around the UK together after we’d all prepared the car together at home with the help of my brother George.

“Dad’s presence at the first round at Phillip Island was a big boost and even more so now with both of my parents and my Grandma flying over from England. They’ll be joined by my Aussie side of the family making the trip down from the Adelaide hills where they all grew up.”

On the back of his strong performance up in Townsville back in July, Flying Vinyl have continued their support of Walton for the third round of the Toyota 86 Racing Series at the inaugural Virgin Australia Supercars Championship event at The Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend.

The brand new circuit will be an unknown quantity for the T86RS field who make their first ever trip to South Australia and Walton is hoping to showcase his ability on a level playing field for the first time this year.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity of a level playing field for the first time this year with The Bend being a new track for everyone not just myself this time.” Walton continued.

“The circuit itself presents some unique challenges and demands for the car and driver, particularly regarding how to best use the tyres, but it does have some close similarities to the European circuits I’m more used to. Hopefully, that will put us in a decent position to maximise our results there.”

The Toyota 86 Racing Series will take to the track at The Bend Motorsport Park for the first time on Friday (24/8), for practice ahead of three races.

Cam would like to thank all his supporters for their continued assistance, including:
