One of the outright contenders, in the 2018 Lakeside 300, will be the Mazda MX5 of Adam Ronke and, Victorian, Matt Thewlis.
Their arrival on the grid will be a case of third time lucky, after missing the 2017 Lakeside 300 and the 2018 Willowbank 300 as a result of issues out of their control.
These two drivers are no stranger to the 300km races – Ronke has twice finished on the podium, within his division in the Willowbank 300, while Thewlis has competed in Winton, Wakefield and Willowbank 300’s over the years.
Thewlis currently leads Class D in the Australian Production Car Series, while for Ronke, the Lakeside 300 will be the scene of his long-awaited return to racing.
Their car – a 1999 Mazda MX5 – is a brand new build for this event. Adam is no stranger to undertaking major projects, such a new car builds, on the eve of big race meetings, like this one.
