KMS and Madsen close out big month

Last weekend’s Australian 410 Sprintcar Championship has now signalled the end of what has been the busiest month on the 2018-19 season calendar for Krikke Motorsport and their team driver Kerry Madsen, with the team now looking ahead to their remaining six race meetings.KMS and Madsen Close Out Big Month

Contesting 13 nights of racing during January alone, not to mention the hectic World Series Speedweek Series schedule over the Christmas-New Year period, the Bunbury, Western Australia-based team have enjoyed a solid month overall, despite experiencing some varied bad luck that denied them of better results.

Heading into the Australian 410 Sprintcar Championship at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway (Qld) in the best possible form off the back of an impressive victory in the Prelude to the Championship just a few nights prior, Madsen, who was chasing his fourth Australian Championship win in a row, delivered a consistent performance throughout qualifying to start the preliminary feature race from position two, only to crash out after contact with the leader while attempting an outside pass dashed his hopes.

Sitting seventh in points at the beginning of the second and final night, the hard luck continued the Krikke Motorsport team after being taken out on the opening lap of their fourth and final heat race, which resulted in the WA # 2 Transport Equipment Hire / Pumpa Manufacturing supported Maxim driver being forced to start the feature race from 15th, where he went on to record an eighth-place finish.

With all but one of this season’s blue-ribbon events now being completed, the last of which will be the Krikke Boys Shootout on March 2 at the team’s home track Bunbury Speedway, Krikke Motorsport are now working towards the final three World Series Championship rounds as they attempt to claim top honours for the sixth time in the team’s history.

“It’s been a massive month for the whole team, and I’m very happy with our achievements, which has only been hampered by some misfortune that comes with this speedway game, but our team never let it get on top of them,” Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke commented.

“We are currently sitting on top of the World Series point standings, so with the busiest part of our season now over, we have a number of race meetings ahead, before we focus on consolidating that lead in the remaining three rounds to hopefully score our team’s sixth World Series Championship.”

After running this Saturday night’s (February 2) Lord Mayor’s Cup at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway (Qld) and the South Australian 410 Sprintcar Title at Whyalla’s Westline Speedway (SA) the following Saturday night (February 9), the Krikke Motorsport team will return home to prepare for the western swing of the World Series Championship. They will be back in action on February 16 for the eighth round at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway and then contest the final two rounds at the Perth Motorplex the following weekend.

Krikke Motorsport’s range of 2018-19 season team and Madsen merchandise, which includes hoodies, hats, t-shirts, raglan three-quarter sleeve shirts and kids’ t-shirts, is available for purchase at the track from the team’s transporter. A limited range of stock is also available via the team’s online store at www.krikkemotorsport.store.
