Hot Wheels Car Care Products driver and team edge forward in Virgin Australia Supercars Championship

Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products driver and team edge forward in Virgin Australia Supercars ChampionshipJames Courtney and the Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products-backed Walkinshaw Andretti United team have had an epic weekend in Tasmania, moving forward in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship after today’s Race 8 at the Tyrepower Super Sprint.

With a fourth placed finish today backing up his podium yesterday, Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products Ambassador, Courtney has moved to fourth in the Driver’s Championship and with the mixed results from this weekend’s racing, he is just 34 points off the Championship lead.

Walkinshaw Andretti United moved closer to the Teams Championship lead – just 63 points behind Red Bull Racing Australia.
During the 200km race which was drama charged from start to finish, both Courtney and team-mate Scott Pye advanced forward from their seventh and 10th placed starting positions respectively.

Courtney was in the mix with the front runners which were all tightly bunched on the circuit and after the second round of stops were interspersed with lapped traffic, which forced him to protect his position vigorously.

He ended up coming home in fourth placing with the fastest lap of the race.

Meanwhile toward the end of the race, Pye was on the charge through the back end of the top 10, enhancing his position with a number of clean passes in getting himself to sixth and crossed the line within a second of the fifth placed driver, Jack Le Brocq.

Pye heads to Phillip Island in seventh position – 69 points off the Championship lead and having set the new Symmons Plains Supercars race lap record yesterday.

All in all, it has been another successful weekend for Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products-backed drivers and team.

The next time Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products athletes will be in action will be next weekend in Australian GT Championship specification when Liam Talbot and John Martin will line up in the Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products Porsche 911 GT3-R at the historic first race meeting at the epic The Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend, South Australia.

The next Virgin Australia Supercars Championship event will be the WD-40 Phillip Island 500 the following weekend – April 20-22.
