Home town win for KMS

Home Town Win for KMSThe recent winning form of the Krikke Motorsport team continued last Saturday night, when their driver Jamie Veal claimed an impressive victory on the team’s home track – Bunbury Speedway – in the 12th World Series Sprintcars Championship round.

After starting from the outside of the front row for the feature race alongside arch rival and current WSS Championship point standings leader James McFadden, Veal powered to the lead from the outset. From there, he was able to dictate the pace for the entire 30-lap journey and go on to defeat McFadden.

Veal and the Krikke Motorsport team are rapt with their current run of form, which has them winning the last two fully completed WSS rounds: Bunbury Speedway (WA) and Latrobe Raceway (Tas).

“It’s great to be finishing our World Series campaign in winning form, and what is even better is to be able to come away with the win on my team’s home track on the weekend,” expressed Veal.

“Although our team has endured a difficult season, we’ve never been lacking speed and a lot of the time it’s been mainly bad luck that has put us out of the running, but our recent success has been as a result of the continued hard work of our team.”

Currently sitting second in the WSS Championship point standings behind McFadden, Veal’s win on Saturday night has narrowed the gap between himself and McFadden, and he and the team are now focused on this Saturday and Sunday night’s WSS Championship Grand Final at the Perth Motorplex.

“We’ve given James (McFadden) a bit of a head-start in the point standings through some of our misfortune in the earlier rounds, but you can never say never,” admitted Veal, whose last visit to the Perth Motorplex was earlier this season, when during his Krikke Motorsport full-time debut as their driver took out the win in the Western Australian 410 Sprintcar Title.

“Our plan of the attack heading into this weekend’s Grand Final is to try and continue our winning form and that’s pretty much all we can do, because the point standings will sort itself out.”

Current WSS Championship Point Standings (after 12 completed rounds):
1: James McFadden – 2892 points
2: Jamie Veal – 2632
3: Carson Macedo – 2383
4: David Murcott – 2231
5: Darren Mollenoyux – 2203
