Herne Finishes in victory lane

It had been a mixed rookie TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series campaign for youngster Nathan Herne in 2019, but in last weekend’s sixth and final round at Ipswich’s Queensland Raceway, he managed to finish it on a high by coming away with his maiden round win. Herne Finishes in Victory Lane

The # 29 Gulf Western Oil / Herne’s Freight Service backed TA2 Dodge driver gained more speed and confidence throughout the weekend, and it rewarded him with the best possible result.

“It’s a great way to finish the year with my very first round win, I’ve had a few race wins during the year but never a round win,” the 17-year-old racer said, who picked up the Rookie of the Year honours at the annual TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series awards night that was held on Monday night.

“With it being our first year in the category, my dad (Stuart) and I have had a lot to learn as we’ve come straight out of speedway and are coming up against some much more experienced names in circuit racing like Seton and Miedecke.”

Herne’s weekend commenced with him qualifying second behind TA2 Racing Series leader Aaron Seton and he then went on to repeat that result in the opening race with a second place behind Seton. Herne’s form continued for the rest of the weekend and as a result managed to come away with impressive wins in the remaining three races, which earned him his maiden round win.

At the completion of this year’s TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series, which included a few challenging rounds along the way, Herne finished fourth in the final point standings.

The focus for Herne now is on their 2020 TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series campaign, when they are hoping for a stronger and more consistent year in order to maintain their front-running form.

“I’ve had a lot of fun throughout the year and I’ve learned so much – both on and off the track, and I’m really looking forward to next year already,” Herne commented.

“Our year was one full of plenty of learning curves and I’m hoping all of that can help me improve my performances for next year.”

Herne is proudly supported by the following 2019 sponsors: Gulf Western Oil, Herne’s Freight Service, North Coast Petroleum, Lickiss Fabrications, FX Signs, Revolution Racegear, Herne’s Security Solutions, and Ace Allstars Cheerleading. Special thanks go to his dad Stuart, John Riorden, and the rest of his family and friends.
