Following in his parents’ tyre tracks, Jaiden Healey has certainly gone a long way towards carving his own speedway career, experiencing continued success in both Junior Sedans and Junior Formula 500s.

Showing solid progress in Junior Formula 500s so far this season, emerging victorious in a feature race at Cullen Bullen Raceway, while also placing an encouraging fourth amongst a stout field of competitors at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway, the 14-year-old driver is well and truly proving his versatility, recently reaching new heights in Junior Sedans.

Remaining undefeated at his home track, Cullen Bullen Raceway, winning each of his four contested race meetings in the sedan class this season, it was at Valvoline Raceway that Healey achieved his biggest milestone yet.

Placing first and second in his heat races, Healey managed to carry his front-running form through to the feature race, where he eventually greeted the chequered flag in first place, securing what was an emotional and long-sought after victory at the track that was special not only for Healey, but his whole family, including his sister Caitlyn, who also raced Junior Sedans at the premier speedway venue.

Having previously raced RSA Street Stockers before both retiring several seasons ago, Valvoline Raceway holds special significance for Healey’s mum and dad, Sue and Ray, with Ray picking up three Valvoline Raceway Track Championships amongst other wins, while Sue wrote her name into the history books as the first woman to win a feature race at the track in her class exactly 17 years prior to her son’s win to the day.

“I’ve had some difficult races at Valvoline Raceway in the past so to be able to finally join mum and dad as a feature-race winner at the track is really special for all of us,” expressed the thoughtful Portland, NSW-based racer, who following his win decided to gift his first place trophy to a young fan, who was absolutely ecstatic.

“We’re still learning how to set the Junior Formula 500 up at each track as it’s very different from the sedan, but we’re hoping to take our success into that class during the rest of the season.”

The next appearance for Healey will be in the Junior Sedan at Valvoline Raceway on the Saturday night of December 7.
