Following a successful stint in Wingless Sprints, Daniel Hartigan was eager to take the next step in his career prior to the 2018-19 season, and thanks to car owners Peter and Tania Harvey offering him an opportunity to pilot their Sprintcar, that’s exactly what he’s done.

Winning one Australian Championship is good, but for Hartigan, it’s a feat that he managed to achieve twice during his time in Wingless Sprints, so the Perth, Western Australia-based racer’s hunger to pursue new challenges after such success was a natural progression.

Having been acquainted with Harvey over the years through his business Sprintcar Parts Australia where he would often purchase parts for his Wingless Sprint, Hartigan received an offer from Harvey during the off season to run his WA # 83 ODH Mechanical – Karratha supported Maxim; an offer he enthusiastically accepted.

Contesting the Winter Sprintcar Series at Ellenbrook Speedway, Harvey then put a deal in place which would see Hartigan drive his car throughout the season proper, participating in selected Limited and 360 Sprintcar race meetings.

With approximately 10 shows to their name together, Hartigan and Harvey have experienced a competitive run, picking up a trio of feature-race wins in Limited Sprintcars, the most recent of which took place during a WA Club Championship round on Saturday night at Moora Speedway.

The pair also experienced a mixed run during the recent WA 360 Sprintcar Title at the Perth Motorplex, with Hartigan qualifying an encouraging fifth for the feature race, only to have a wheel centre break mid-distance, which ultimately dashed his state title hopes.

“Racing for Peter and Tania has been amazing so far and I can’t thank them enough for giving me this opportunity,” commented Hartigan.

“It’s been quite a challenging transition from Wingless Sprints, but I’m starting to come to grips with the different driving style I need in Sprintcars and overall it’s been an encouraging campaign for us so far.

“We’re looking forward to the rest of the season and our main focus is going to be to pick up as much knowledge and experience as we can, while hopefully coming away with some front-running results.”

In addition to 360 and Limited Sprintcars, Hartigan will soon be making his 410 Sprintcar debut with Harvey at Collie Speedway on December 27 for a round of the USA vs Australia Sprintcar Series. This will be the first of selected 410 Sprintcar outings that they will be making throughout the season.

The Perth, WA-based duo is currently seeking further sponsorship opportunities. To register your interest in supporting Hartigan and Harvey throughout the season, please contact Harvey on 0439 118 046.

Hartigan would also like to give special thanks Peter and Tania Harvey, his fiancée (Rebecca), and his pit crew member Cody Lawrence.
