Grafton’s season closes in style

What better way for Hession’s Auto Parts Grafton Speedway to bring the curtain down on their 2018-19 season than by hosting an action-packed schedule featuring no less than six classes, which will be headlined by the NSW Modlite Title and the exciting Tin Top 50 Lapper.

Joining the Modlites on the program will be V8 Dirt Modifieds, Wingless Sprints, RSA Street Stockers, RSA 4 Cylinder Sedans and RSA Junior Sedans, with the senior RSA classes also participating in an all in Tin Top 50 lapper, which will see drivers pair up, each contesting 25 of the scheduled 50 laps aboard a single car.

Eager to contest their NSW Title, which was rescheduled following a cancellation due to rain back in March, the Modlite drivers will be hoping to bring their A game in an effort to close their season in the best possible fashion.

Despite experiencing a significant crash during the recent Queensland Title, current Victorian Champion Klinton Hancey is sure to bounce back in a big way as he attempts to defend his NSW Title, with the versatile racer also having claimed an upset victory in the Queensland V8 Dirt Modified Title earlier this season.

There are numerous likely contenders in the V8 Dirt Modifieds, including local racer Andrew Firth, who has already tasted victory on home soil on two occasions this season, along with the competitive Corbett brothers Chris and Dale, Phil McNamara, leading Sportsman driver Trevor Wiley (Qld) and many more.

David Eggins will be one of the hot favourites to take out the Wingless Sprint feature race, having previously experienced victory at the Grafton venue, while a host of challengers will be looking to hinder him, including local Scott Marsh, Jacob Jolley, Michael Butcher, Bradley Claridge and Warren King.

It’s been a solid season so far for RSA Street Stocker driver Brock Armstrong, who is currently on the verge of clinching the overall Hession’s Auto Parts Grafton Speedway track point score, but it certainly won’t be easy for him with the class’ nominations being bolstered due to the inclusion of the Tin Top 50 Lapper.

Completing the support program will be the RSA 4 Cylinder Sedans, who will be hoping to show up the RSA Street Stockers during the all in Tin Top 50 Lapper, and the RSA Junior Sedans.

Track entry prices are as follows: family (two adults and two high school aged children) $65, adults $25, pensioners (age and TPI) $20, high school children (with card) $15, and children (under 12) FREE.

Gates open at 12 pm, with racing to commence at 3 pm.
