Gartner’s limited campaign

Despite leading Super Sedan racer Dave Gartner planning to contest a limited schedule during the 2018-19 season, his hunger for success is certainly not limited in the slightest.

Off the back of a season that was full of firsts for Gartner, including winning his maiden Victorian Title, after placing runner-up in the event a whopping seven times previously, and claiming his maiden feature-race win at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway (NSW), the Penola, South Australian-based resident is keen to continue his momentum this season.

With under a dozen race meetings on the agenda, Gartner won’t be taking his foot off the gas aboard his SA # 1 GT Bobcat / Spanlift Sheds supported Dominator car as he prepares to participate in a slew of title events.

“The fact that we are contesting a reduced schedule this season just means that we’ll have more time to concentrate on the events that we are contesting, in particular the National and state titles,” explained Gartner, who has been competing in the Super Sedans class for the past 15 years.

“We haven’t changed much with the car over the off season, so we are hoping to pick up where we left off and come away with more front-running performances than not.”

With last season’s South Australian Title being rained out, leaving Gartner to hold onto the crown for a little while longer, this Saturday night at his home track – Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway – will see him attempt to deliver a successful defence in the re-run of last season’s title in what is his first major appearance of the season. If he is successful, it will be Gartner’s fourth South Australian Title win in a row and the sixth of his career.

In addition to contesting most race meetings throughout his home state, the 2018-19 season for Gartner will consist of the Victorian Title at Rushworth Speedway on February 23, where he will once again be in defence mode as he attempts to retain the title. Gartner plans to return to Rushworth Speedway (Vic) for the two-night Gold Rush event on March 9 and 10, followed by the National Title at Moama’s Heartland Raceway (NSW) on April 19 and 20.

Gartner would like to thank the following 2018-19 season sponsors: GT Bobcat, Spanlift Sheds, Maxwill Racing Engines, Castrol Oils, Gartner Transport, Dominator Race Cars, EB Photographics, KNJ Photography, and Brims Coastal Cement. Special thanks go to Gartner’s hard-working crew Kristen Harris and Brett Watson, along with his family and friends.
