Final show down for QTCC at Queensland Raceway
MEDIA RELEASE: The Ipswich Classic (15th and 16th of October) will see the Queensland Touring Car Championship contenders battle it out on track for the 2016 top honours, and the title fight is just heating up.
The QTCC always brings the action to any race meeting, and the final round of their championship will be no different – just with the added suspense of the championship being on the line.
There’s just 33 points between championship leader Justin Anthony and Steve Hay in Group A, and the battle for third is still just as tight with 49 points covering three drivers. Murray Kent, Michael Woodcroft and Neville Haines are all in with a shot for third place.
In Group B there’s a spread of 82 points covering the top three drivers, so any of the three could be walking away with the championship on sunday afternoon. Dean Rice, Gary Anger and Stuart Walker are preparing for their final showdown the weekend of the Ipswich Classic, to see just which one will be able to come out on top. Rice is hot off a win in the last round, so momentum might just be on his side come the final round.
Even drivers who aren’t in contention for the top three spots will still be itching to solidify their places on the standing or creep up a few and finish the year on a high, there’s a whole lot on the line at the Ipswich Classic.
It’s really coming down to the wire for the championship in both groups in QTCC, and the final round should be just as explosive as the last 5.
The Ipswich Classic will be on the 15th and 16th of October at Queensland Raceways, Willowbank. Conducted over two action packed days, with categories such as Classic Sports and Sedans, Trans Ams, TA2s, Production Sports, Group N, HQs and the Excel Cup.
