Ellement rewarding faith

Ben Ellement is certainly earning his spot in the driver’s seat of the Muir Motorsports WA # 53 MMS Civil / Ellement Produce supported Cool car, rewarding car owner Mat Muir with an impressive performance during last Saturday night’s eighth World Series Sprintcar Championship round at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway.

Despite experiencing various dramas throughout his heat races, it was his strong start to qualifying that saw Ellement included in the Pole Shootout, progressing from the Silver Shootout through to the gold, where he secured an outside second row start for the 35-lap feature race.

Briefly making his way up to third in the middle stages of the race, before slipping back to fifth, Ellement remained inside the top five for the entire distance, quickly returning to fourth place where he greeted the chequered flag, narrowly missing out on a podium result by the slimmest of margins.

Ellement was quick to pay tribute to Muir following what was the team’s best result yet with Ellement on board.

“The support and faith that Mat has shown me in taking me on as the team’s driver has been amazing and it’s great to be able to reward him and the rest of the team with such a strong result,” expressed Ellement, who qualified second in time trials and finished fifth and sixth in his heat races, before placing fourth in the pole shootout to cement his feature race starting position.

“The night wasn’t without its challenges, but overall we’re really happy with the result and how strongly we were able to perform throughout qualifying to set ourselves up for the rest of the night.”

While the Ellement and Muir duo has shown encouraging pace since teaming up at the beginning of the 2018-19 season, qualifying has been an area that they’ve been aiming to improve, and one that will be pivotal as they head into the final two World Series rounds at the Perth Motorplex this Friday and Saturday night.

“We’re hoping to be able to build on last Saturday night’s result to challenge for another top-five result this weekend,” commented Ellement, who resides in Mandogalup, WA.

“The overall objective of the team is still to keep it enjoyable and have as much fun as we can, but we’re getting more and more comfortable with each other and we’re really starting to make gains!”

Ellement and the Muir Motorsports team would like to thank their 2018-19 season sponsors: MMS Civil, Ellement Produce, FlowFactor, United Fluid Power, Design Signs, Territory Plant Hire, National Karate, and South West Conveyancing.
