DHL signs Official Logistics Partner deal with MotoGP
MEDIA RELEASE: DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, has announced a new three-year partnership with the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship, MotoGP. The partnership will see DHL support the logistics needs of MotoGP and its sister championships, Moto2 and Moto3.
“This new partnership with MotoGP™, the oldest of all motorsports world championships and the premier racing event on two wheels, further showcases that DHL is the provider of choice to the motorsports and automotive sectors,” said Ken Allen, CEO, DHL Express.
“We are very excited about having the opportunity to get behind the handlebars of the championship’s logistics operation and to offer high quality international shipping services to MotoGP.
As with the other motor racing championships in our world-class partnership portfolio, MotoGP will also give us an opportunity both to engage with an incredibly passionate global fan base and to create even more high octane experiences for our own customers, employees and partners.”
“I am very pleased to have reached this agreement with a company like DHL because the result will be very beneficial for both parties,” said Pau Serracanta, Managing Director, Commercial Area, Dorna.
“DHL will enjoy outstanding visibility at circuits, events and via the many broadcasting platforms MotoGP employs, plus they will benefit from being able to organize various activities for guests at MotoGP events.
Dorna will benefit from a logistics service that spans the globe, which will allow us to maintain our values of speed and efficiency on which the championship has been built.”
The 2015 MotoGP season features eighteen races in fourteen countries spanning four continents.
Each season, more than 80 bikes and 350 tons of equipment for the teams and the championship organisers need to be transported by sea, air and road across a total distance of approximately 90,000 km within just nine months.
With tailored solutions for packing and handling motorsports equipment and in-depth knowledge of customs and transport regulations in all the markets where MotoGP operates, DHL is well positioned to help ensure that the ‘race before the race’ runs seamlessly and on-time.
Alongside the logistics activities, the partnership will also include extensive marketing opportunities. Alongside customer hospitality and logo usage rights for customer marketing initiatives, DHL will benefit from track-side advertising at MotoGP races providing exposure to live television audiences in 207 countries.
DHL has over 30 years of motorsports logistics experience.
The company partners with a number of motor racing championships and teams, including Formula 1, Formula E, WTCC, WEC, Andretti Autosport, Audi_ABT and Kalitta Motorsports.
