Western General Bodyworks V8 Utes driver Danny Buzadzic says tyre conservation will be critical in this weekend’s second round of the series at Perth’s Barbagallo circuit.
The circuit’s abrasive texture and sandy environment are typically punishing on tyres, and Buzadzic says the drivers who best manage their allocation throughout the weekend will come out on top.
“We have practice and qualifying on Friday, and then three races across the weekend; two 14-lappers and one 18-lapper,” Buzadzic said.
“Managing the Yokohama control tyres across all the races will be a challenge and the key is to set a quick lap in qualifying straight away; if you can punch out a good time after two or three laps, it’s better than wearing your tyres out for 10 laps.”
Buzadzic says he’s fond of the track, which he has visited a couple of times before.
“Everyone at Barbagallo is nice to deal with and the fans turn out in force, and they’re very passionate,” Buzadzic said.
“After starting the season off at a street circuit with the Clipsal 500, it’s good to be back at a permanent race track again and it’s an exciting place – there are plenty of elevation changes and some good overtaking opportunities.”
Buzadzic and the Western General Bodyworks Ford FG Falcon V8 Ute will hit the circuit on Friday for practice and qualifying, followed by racing on Saturday and Sunday.
