This Sunday afternoon Drouin Speedway closes out its season with a day full of family fun and entertainment that includes plenty of racing from the usual local heroes, some Vintage demonstrations, a kids bicycle race on the race track and a Demolition Derby!
The Demolition Derby is always popular and some of the local track volunteers have got into the spirit to put cars together for themselves with Travis Evans, Mick Lovell, Ryan Gaffa and Simon Stang ready to do battle with Leigh Mitchell, Mitch Blencowe and Brad Warren, it should be a entertaining event with Evans a former winner looking to keep his crown as King of the Krash.
In racing the Standard Saloons has a good field of competitors with Leigh Gooding, Blencowe, Leigh Mitchell, Stephen Douglas and the entertaining Mick Coomer and Mark Borkowski involved. Gooding will be keen to end the season with win in his quest to secure a club championship crown.
A strong field of Juniors will compete through the dog leg section of the track with last meetings winner Rhys Lansdown to be challenged by Lewis Williams, Team Yeomans and Team Ingram. Sports Sedans have some strong pre event nominations with a couple other competitors talking of joining the field depending on how they go on Saturday night at other events and the Unlimited Sedans will once again try to defeat Alan Stockdale who has been strong in the later part of the current season.
Ladies Standard Saloons, Vintage Super Modifieds & Classic Sprintcars and Ace of Spades Vintage Sedans make for a great day at the track, however don’t forget to bring your kids and their bicycles if you wish for them to have a race around the track.
Gates open from 8am. Racing starts at 11am. Entry will cost $15 for an adult, aged and invalid Pensioner and Children 12 to 16yrs is $10 and Children under 12 years of age are free. A family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 to 16 will cost $40.
