Competition heats up ahead of Pulsar Driver Search finale

MEDIA RELEASE: The hunt to unearth Australian motorsport talent is well underway with the Pulsar Driver Search decider to be held at Winton Motor Raceway on October 4.

Drivers from NSW and Victoria will battle it out with one driver winning a funded drive in the 2016 Pulsar Challenge.

Competitors in NSW have already had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of one of the latest turbo charged SSS Pulsars on the skid pan at Sydney Motorsport Park where karter Aron Thornhill came out on top.

The competition then moved to Wakefield Park Raceway where many competitors experienced their first drive of a race car whilst completing flat out laps behind the wheel of a Pulsar Challenge race car.

Evan Daley came out on top by 0.12 of a second over NSW Excel Series front runner Daniel Smith.

“After winning a similar competition 10 years ago I jumped at the opportunity to compete in Pulsar Driver Search. I was stoked to come out on top after having limited laps behind the wheel of a race car recently,” Daley commented.

“I have to thank Pulsar Driver Search for running a competition of this style again as there are so many talented drivers who never get the opportunity to compete without the required funding.”

Pulsar Driver Search also ran the exact same format at Winton Motor Raceway for Victorian competitors.

Sim racer and karter Hayden Berns enjoyed his first drive of a race car whilst coming out on top at the second Victorian round.

“We had set ourselves a goal lap time wise prior to the event, but to come out on top and beat the time we had set by a significant margin was great,” said Berns.

“Before the first session the nerves were starting to build and the reality was sinking in that I was about to be driving a race car, however Kyle kept me in check and I settled into a rhythm once I was out on the track.

“I am looking forward to having the NSW competitors join us for the final round at Winton and seeing how we all stack up.”

“I would like to thank all competitors and everyone who has got behind Pulsar Driver Search,” said Kyle Austin, the creator of Pulsar Driver Search.

“The response has been overwhelming and I am glad to have been able to get people excited and give them a great experience in the process. I am also excited to announce the winners in a few weeks’ time and provide them with an opportunity they wouldn’t have had previously.”
