Challenging weekend for Crick

Challenging Weekend for CrickDespite experiencing a challenging run in last weekend’s Sydney SuperSprint, which doubled as the third Toyota 86 Racing Series round at Sydney Motorsport Park, Cameron Crick has taken the weekend as an added opportunity to learn more about the car and continue to make improvements.

Beginning the event with a 14th-place result in qualifying on Friday, Crick and his team were surprised to find it difficult to maximise their pace, after having completed a recent test session at the circuit leading up to the round.

A disjointed start in Race 1 on the Saturday, due to difficulty hearing the radio, saw Crick marginally jump the start, before pausing and re-starting, ultimately slipping back to 23rd in the opening few corners, while also making some contact with a few rivals. Having sustained minor damage to his car, Crick was able to fight back, managing to make his way up to 18th by the fall of the chequered flag.

On Sunday, Crick’s misfortune continued, when he drove to an encouraging 13th-place finish in Race 2, only to receive a post-race time penalty. This came as a result of making accidental contact with another competitor, which placed him towards the back of the grid for the third and final race. In the race, he ended up 18th.

“It was certainly a challenging weekend for us; however, we’ll take the experience as an opportunity to improve prior to the next round,” admitted Crick, who is currently sitting 17th in the overall Toyota 86 Racing Series point standings.

“I have to say a huge thank you to the Sieders Racing team for all of their hard work throughout the weekend, along with all of my sponsors for their valued support.”

For his next appearance, Crick will travel to the renowned Mount Panorama Racing Circuit where he will contest the Bathurst 1000 from October 5-8, which doubles as round four of the Toyota 86 Racing Series.
