The Toyota 86 Racing Series race winner joined a number of youngsters testing the BJR Holdens in Dunlop Super2 Supercars Series trim.

16-year-old Feeney drove two cars, both ironically which had been piloted by fellow Gold Coasters – the SCT Logistics car piloted in Super2 this year by Jack Smith and the machine raced this year by Zane Goddard.

This also saw him work with several engineers from the Albury-based squad as well as the Jones family and Wally Storey – all of whom heaped praise on Feeney’s application to the Supercars.

He was one of the quickest drivers that took part in the test for BJR.

The day was a precursor to next week where Feeney heads for the Grand Final of Aussie Driver Search at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park – should he win, he will receive a scholarship to compete in the second tier Supercars Series.

The Winton test wasn’t the first time that Feeney has piloted a Supercar, having driven a Paul Morris Motorsport prepared car on several occasions and the Aussie Driver Search car in the qualifying rounds of that competition.

This year saw Feeney become the youngest ever driver to win a Toyota 86 Racing Series race at The Bend, then backed that up at Sandown for which he was awarded the Toyota Unbreakable Award. He was also awarded the Publicity Star of the Toyota 86 Racing Series for his work in promoting himself and the Series.

Feeney’s currently piecing together his plans for 2019 – where he’s aiming to move into either the Super3 or Dunlop Super2 Supercars Series’.

Throughout 2018, Broc Feeney has been supported by Exit Timeshare Now, Firestar Developments, Penrite Oil, Labrys, the Paul Feeney Group and Norwell Motorplex.

QUOTEBOARD:

“It was a great opportunity to join Brad Jones Racing for a full day of running, along with getting first hand advice from Brad, Andy and Macauley Jones,” said Feeney. “The team made me feel comfortable and getting to experience two cars on the one day added to that.

“It was unbelievable to see my name on the side of the Supercar walking into the garage and affirmed that it is where I want to be now and in the future.

“The times I set were strong and the day allowed me to get full sessions of not only driving but the engineering and data side of things. This is one area I felt I made some strong gains in, also varying tyre conditions and how that approached the car.

“Next week, we head to the Grand Final of Aussie Driver Search. It is such a great program and it is one I’ve been looking forward to since we first found out we got past the qualifying round. That was a few months ago now, so there has been plenty of anticipation building up!

“Again, I can’t thank Brad Jones Racing and the team enough for the opportunity to come and be part of their final test day for the year and my sponsors and family in believing in me. Let’s go next week!”
