Australians take victory in the Peking to Paris
Australians Mark Pickering and Dave Body have won the Classics category in the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge.
Pickering and Body, both from Newcastle, hauled a Datsun 240Z on the 36-day, 14,000km test to beat home a Volvo Amazon driven by Ludo Bois and Julia Colman.
“The car is tired and so are Dave and I and we’re all looking forward to a well earned rest,” Pickering said.
“It is an amazing feeling to have won such an iconic event thank you to the ERA (Endurance Rally Association”.
Bruce and Harry Washington won the vintage section for pre 1941 cars in their Chrysler 75 Roadster.
