Australian GT Championship welcomes new partner
The Australian GT Championship presented by Pirelli [AGT] continues to go from strength-to-strength in season 2014.
Record entries, strong interest from competitors in the series that now includes a great mix of sprint and endurance races on some of the best circuits in the country and now further news concerning a new corporate partner.
“I’m very proud to announce that Automotive Holdings Group Limited [AHG] have agreed terms to join Australian GT as a new series partner,” said Ken Collier the Category Manager of Australian GT.
“AHG is Australia’s largest automotive retail group and also a major logistics supplier, with operations in every Australian mainland state and New Zealand, regions in which we compete regularly at high profile events that will help us to build brand recognition for all of our partners, including AHG.”
The Australian GT Championship is enjoying terrific growth in season 2014, with some of the strongest fields in Australian motorsport. Interest too is continuing to climb and theMay 23-25 round of the championship will see new entries, including the first full-time entrant from New Zealand.
“The series just continues to grow and we are receiving calls from interested parties almost daily,” Collier confirmed. “I think our decision this year to mix longer endurance races with high profile sprint races alongside the V8 Supercars has peaked interest amongst teams, but we’re also seeing new cars that have never raced in Australia before, and the return of some teams that competed in past seasons that had gone into semi-retirement.
“It’s an exciting period for Australian GT, and a period in which we’re pleased to invite AHG and their extensive national network.”
“We’re excited to be joining the Australian GT and Aussie Racing Car [ARC] series and see it as a really strong association from a branding viewpoint,” Bronte Howson, Managing Director of AHG explained.
“The AGT and ARC series are highly regarded for their levels of professionalism and presentation, and we look forward to being able to engage with the teams, the fans who attend the events and the television audiences.”
“AHG holds more than 150 new car and truck franchises across Australia and New Zealand and this is a very high profile method of driving race fans to our AHG web site at ahg.com.au.”
The new association will begin at Phillip Island during the May 23-25 101-lap endurance event with AHG branding adorning all cars competing in the 2014 Australian GT Championship, alongside existing partners, Pirelli, Darrell Lea and ZMM.
