Brothers Blake and Kyle Aubin have confirmed they will race in all rounds of the 2018 Australian Production Cars in their Class C #17 Renault Megane, following some international preparation.

“Our goal first and foremost for 2018 is to compete in all of the rounds of the APC calendar, and if we do that, we hope to battle it out for the Class C Championship,” Blake Aubin explained.

“We know that it will be tough, going up against competitors like Osborne Motorsport and others who are looking to join in the fun this year, but we will sure be doing our best!

“We really enjoyed the rounds that we competed in last year, so we have worked really hard in the off-season to secure sponsorship and make adjustments to our car so we can run the full season this year.

“The amount of track time available, the different tracks visited, and the variety of the race formats and the cars all really make the APC very appealing to us. On top of all of that, we are very happy to see that the number of entries is increasing, which will make it even more exciting for all of the teams and spectators involved.”

While the APC is front and centre in their minds, the Aubin brothers also have some international pre-season preparation on the go.

“In mid-April Kyle and I will be heading to Navarra in Spain to race in the 24 hour series in a Prototype with AF2 Motorsport,” Blake explained.

“We are extremely excited for this race and have been training quite hard in preparation.

“It will be a completely different experience to be driving a prototype, and we hope to gain a massive amount of knowledge which we will be able to bring back to Australia to inform our future endeavours.”

The Aubin brothers 2018 APC journey will begin with round one of the season at Sandown Raceway across May 10-13.

“Kyle and I are looking forward to jumping back in our Class C Renault Megane this year after running some rounds in the Class D Renault Clio last year,” Blake explained.

“We haven’t been to Sandown before so we are really keen to make the journey down there in May and get onto what will be a new track for us.

“We have seen a lot of it on television of course, so it will feel a bit surreal I think to be there for the first couple of laps. We hope to be battling with the other Renaults (Osborne Motorsport) in our class, as we know they are a very strong and experienced outfit.

“The four one-hour races format should be very interesting, hopefully we can start off with some solid points for the championship.

“Hopefully we can duplicate the success we had last year in the Clio across the season, not only for us but also for our valued sponsors who are backing our campaign – RSL Club Bathurst, Bathurst Real Estate, 7/11 Bathurst, Reliance Bank and Shawn Marks Automotive – hopefully we can have a really strong season for them and give them the results they deserve for being so loyal to our team.”

Round one of the 2018 APC will kick off at Sandown Raceway across May 11-13. For more on the APC, please visit www.australianproductioncars.com.au or www.facebook.com/AustralianProductionCars or call category manager Iain Sherrin on 0422 449 446.
