Another Top 10 for Hot Wheels™ Car Care-backed Pye

Another Top 10 for Hot Wheels™ Car Care-backed PyeScott Pye’s push for the top of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship in the Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products-backed Walkinshaw Andretti United Holden continued in today’s final race of the Winton SuperSprint, securing another top 10 finish.

After qualifying sixth, Pye’s good form in the Championship extended yet again.

Off the start, he quickly got himself inside the top five before the team elected to pit him on lap 12. He emerged in front of Jamie Whincup and kept the multi-time Supercars Champion behind him.

He was in a battle for the top five with Michael Caruso, however despite best efforts to get into the top five, came home where he started. He remains sixth on the points ladder, but his outstanding consistency sees him closing in on a top three position in the Championship.

James Courtney’s eventful weekend, that started with a hospital visit, continued. The Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products ambassador started 13th and made places on the opening lap before being pitted straight away by the team to build track position.

An on-track collision pushed Courtney wide and he lost some of the time he stood to make as a result of the early stop.

After the second round of stops, the 2010 Supercars Champion was involved in an on-track battle with Andre Heimgartner, which eventually went the way of the latter, which then led to Courtney and Garth Tander going at it on track.

A touch spinning Tander saw officials hand Courtney a 15-second post-race penalty, which dropped him from just outside the top 10 to 19th position.

The Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products-backed Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing squad remains third in the Team’s Championship after a good haul of points against adversity this weekend.

The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship is now in hiatus until June 15-17 when the Northern swing starts with the annual visit to Hidden Valley in Darwin.

The next time a Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products backed driver will be back in action is over the weekend of June 1-3 when the Australian GT and Australian Endurance Championship with Liam Talbot and John Martin take on the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
