Anderson’s winning feeling returns

Off the back of a memorable feature-race win during a World Series Sprintcars round over the Christmas-New Year period, Grant Anderson found himself back in victory lane last Saturday night at Moama’s Heartland Raceway, earning the winning spoils in the ninth Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series round.

It’s been a season of highs so far for the 38-year-old racer, who, in addition to his maiden WSS round win, managed to come away with a solid sixth-place finish in last month’s prestigious Grand Annual Classic at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.

Continuing that front-running form during last Saturday night’s outing at Heartland Raceway after over a month out of the driver’s seat, Anderson did well to navigate his way through the demanding track conditions, qualifying on pole position for the 30-lap feature race and going on to lead each one of them to claim a well-deserved win.

“The team and I couldn’t be happier that we’ve been able to continue building on our momentum this season and this win is another great reward for the entire team and a testament to all of their hard work,” expressed the pilot of the Vic # 37 Latrobe Valley Bandag supported Maxim car, who was the only driver to break into the 14-second bracket during the feature race.

“I was able to show good speed from the outset and we were able to carry that through to the feature race where everything ultimately came together for us and we came away with the win.”

Picking up a win and a third-place finish in his heat races, the Albury, NSW-based racer was sitting second in points heading into the Gold Shootout, where he managed to secure the pole position start for the feature race by virtue of recording the fastest lap time.

Now heading into the tail end of the 2018-19 season, Anderson is looking forward to seeing what else he and his team can achieve when they take to the track, with their next appearance being the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series Grand Final at Premier Speedway on the Saturday night of March 16.

“We’ve still got a number of race meetings left on our calendar down in Victoria, which includes the Easter Trail, and we’re hoping that we can continue our current form and pick up more front-running results to see the season out,” Anderson added.
Anderson would like to thank his 2018-19 season sponsors: Latrobe Valley Bandag, Graeme and Jenny Monds, WASP Steering & Suspension, D&F Racing Products, Townsend Service Centre, Middy’s Data & Electrical, Bockman Batteries, Maxwell Industries, ARP Bolts, KRE Race Engines, Fuchs Lubricants, Quinlan’s Auto Spares, and GearWrench.
