Aidan Read eager to return to the iconic Suzuka circuit

Aidan Read is eager to return to the iconic Suzuka circuit in Japan with Craft-Bamboo Racing for round three of the Blancpain GT Series Asia

Aidan Read and teammate Darryl O’Young are managing expectations heading in to a historically strong part of the season for the Craft-Bamboo Racing Porsche.

“Suzuka is a circuit with a lot of character,” Aidan said. “I loved the challenge last year and it’s the highlight of the calendar for me.

“The Porsche was a car to watch last year in Japan. It really propelled itself up the grid and I’m excited to find out how far Darryl and I can take it this weekend.”

The weekend begins with tyre testing on Thursday for a new Pirelli compound for the championship.

“We have a test day on Thursday to identify changes and develop the setup for the weekend to follow,” Aidan explained. “We’re expecting a competitive weekend based on past performance at the track.

“It’s up to all of us in the team to make the most of the car’s potential. When the car is quick you have to execute, especially in such a competitive series.”

31 entries will line up at Suzuka, a season high. The event gets underway on Friday with free practice, the two races take place on Saturday and Sunday.
