Music line up a hit at Albert Park

MEDIA RELEASE: The music line up at the 2016 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix will feature the largest number of acts the event has ever seen with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation today announcing there will be an incredible 47 acts taking to the stages at Albert Park from 17 – 20 March, 2016.

With 29 music acts more than last year’s event and two new stages, fans will be treated to performances by some of Australia’s best home grown talent including Sneaky Sound System, The Rogue Traders, Spiderbait and Samantha Jade who will be performing the national anthem.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation General Manager – Motorsport and Entertainment, Craig Fletcher, said this year’s strong music line-up not only showcases local music talent but also enhances the overall fan experience.

“Melburnians have a real passion for sport and music so we’ve brought these two things together in a big way for the 2016 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix; we predict fans will be tremendously happy with the comprehensive music offering and more importantly, the greater value for money with their event ticket,” said Fletcher.

“We have more than doubled the music offering from the event last year and look forward to welcoming Australia’s best musicians to the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit to showcase their incredible talents.”

The Rogue Traders’ leader singer, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, said the band is thrilled to be involved in the 2016 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix and can’t wait to entertain the race crowd.

“The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix is such an iconic sporting occasion so to be invited to perform at this year’s event is an honour and something we are really looking forward to,” said Bassingthwaighte.

There will be seven precincts located in the Albert Park circuit for fans to soak up the music action across the four-day event. The Honda Motorcycle Stage in Legends Lane, V8 Village Stage and the Premium Zone are back again for 2016, while the F1 Fan Zone Stage, M-Lane Stage, GP Advantage Enclosure and Pit Stops in corporate areas are all brand new.

An array of performances at the event and associated parties will take place over the race weekend. Other artists include Vaudeville Smash, Johnny Wonderpants, Dan O’Connor, the Johnny Rollins Band, Josh Owens, Generik, YO! MAFIA and APAX.
