As the revs rise and the gate gets ready to drop on South Australia’s biggest dirt bike event of the year, local businesses are all revved up to support round three of the 2017 Australian Supercross Championship being staged at Adelaide Motorsport Park at Virginia, on Saturday, October 28.
Presenting the Australian Supercross Championship is a massive undertaking, where outdoor motocross is ‘recreated’ in a stadium venue, by trucking hundreds of tonnes of top soil into Adelaide Motorsport Park, which will then be shaped into a high-flying supercross circuit that will challenge a capacity field of Australian and international dirt bike stars.
“With a tight time-frame to build the track and prepare the venue, and then ‘bump out’ and take it all away again, it’s a high pressure environment behind-the-scenes,” explains event promoter Mark Gilbert, who has been producing major motorsport events in South Australia for more than 30 years.
“An event like the Australian Supercross Championship just wouldn’t be possible without the support of the many local South Australian businesses who all play vital roles in providing equipment and services to assist us in meeting the constant logistical challenges.”
Those local businesses weighing in with support and expertise – which ranges from earthmoving equipment and plant hire through to printing and signage – for Adelaide’s round three of the 2017 Australian Supercross Championship include:

These local businesses will join the 2017 Australian Supercross Championship series sponsors of round three – Motorex, Yamaha, KTM, Dunlop, Suzuki and Unit – to make the Adelaide Motorsport Park race an event to remember for supercross fans.
With the six-round 2017 Australian Supercross Championship firing into life with the series opener at Jimboomba, Queensland, on September 23, followed by round two at Bacchus Marsh in Victoria on October 14, and then Adelaide’s round three on October 28, Australia’s dirt bike heroes are gearing up for a rapid fire start to the Championship chase.
In the premier SX1 (450cc) category, freshly crowned 2017 MX Nationals champion Dean Ferris from the CDR Yamaha team is ready and waiting to bang bars with 2015 Australian SX1 Supercross Champion Dan Reardon, who has returned home from the USA to race for the Mega Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing team.
However the two Aussie top guns may not have things all their own way, as 2016 Australian SX1 Supercross Champion, American star Justin Brayton, is rumoured to be planning a return tour-of-duty Down Under with Honda to defend his crown.
Meantime reigning 2016 Australian SX2 (250cc) Supercross Champion Jackson Richardson from the Serco Yamaha team has now returned to riding following injury and is intent on retaining his hard fought number one plate from last year.
Also joining the big-name stars on-track will be Junior riders in the SX Junior Lites and SX Junior 85 classes, which this year have been granted Championship status by Motorcycling Australia to foster the next generation of supercross champions.
