Stephen Ottley
Stephen Ottley is an award-winning journalist who has written about cars and motor racing for all of Australia’s leading publications.
He has been interested in cars as long as he can remember. Speed is in the blood as his great-grandfather was a motor racing pioneer in Australia, establishing several land speed and racing records.
Based in Sydney, professionally he has been writing about everything on four-wheels since 2001, starting his career covering motor racing. Like his peers – including Jamie Whincup and Will Power – he began reporting on Formula Ford but quickly moved up the ranks and in 2007 won the V8 Supercars Media Award.
In 2007 he transitioned into automotive journalism and over the last decade has worked for leading outlets including CarsGuide, Carsales, Drive and The Sydney Morning Herald. He has driven everything from a Kia Picanto to Lamborghini Huracan Performante in his time and interviewed leading global automotive figures.
He has also continued to cover motorsport and has been a regular contributor to The Sydney Herald Sport section. His work has also appeared in Motor Magazine, Street Machine and F1 Racing.
Ottley joined the Torquecafe.com team in October, 2019.
