Jack Miller is hopeful he will receive the all-clear to contest this weekend’s Czech Republic Grand Prix despite sustaining a fractured vertebra and wrist in Austria.

The rising Australian talent was ruled out of Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring due to the injuries incurred in a high speed crash at Turn 8 during the morning warm-up.

Following a visit to the nearby Leoben hospital, Miller had hoped to compete in the 28-lap race before doctors declared the Townsville rider was unfit to ride.

The Queenslander has suffered a hairline fracture to his T6 vertebra alongside the wrist injury.

The latest setback comes as an added blow after suffering a broken leg in pre-season and a fractured bone in his foot that forced him to withdraw from the Circuit of the Americas round in April.

Although keen to return to the saddle at Brno this weekend, Marc VDS Honda confirmed a decision regarding the Aussie’s participation will be made on Wednesday.

“This is not the way I wanted to start the second half of the season but that’s the way it is,” said Miller.

“It’s a shame it didn’t work out for me but I’ll keep giving it 100 percent and now I’m hoping to be fit to race in Brno next week, as I really like that track.

“I banged my foot and that’s a bit sore, as is my wrist and vertebra with the small fractures but hopefully I can heal quickly.”

Miller remains 13th in the championship standings despite missing Sunday’s race.
