Michael Caruso will receive a full livery change that will pay homage to the latest version of Nissan’s GT Academy program at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

The #23 Altima will sport the predominantly grey, black, white and red hues that celebrate Nissan’s global virtual-to-race competition and is similar to the livery that was run in Townsville last year.

“It’s exciting that GT Academy is back this year, every year the competition lifts to another level and I’m sure this year will be the same,” Caruso said.

“The opportunity to go from racing in your bedroom to doing it in real life is a fantastic one and we’ve seen the transformation first hand this year with our 2015 winner Matt Simmons, who went from delivery parcels for Australia Post to racing for NISMO in the Blancpain GT Series.

“The Altima Supercar looks fantastic in the GT Academy livery. It’s going to be exciting to see who Australia’s next potential GT Academy winner will be.”

Australia is one of six territories this year which will host the global initiative that has seen six million entrants since it first launched in 2008.

The six best contestants at the Australian final will then be flown to the Silverstone circuit in England to compete against the world’s best at the 2016 GT Academy Race Camp, where this year’s ultimate winner will be decided.

The overall 2016 GT Academy International winner will receive an intensive driver development program that will see them qualify for an International Race Licence.

Australia’s maiden GT Academy graduate, Simmons will compete in the biggest race of his career, the Spa 24 Hour in a Nissan Nismo factory GT-R GT3 from July 26-31.
