Matthew White ended Ryan Simpson’s run of nine straight Kumho V8 Touring Car Series race wins in the final hit-out of the season at Sandown.
White had finished second to Simpson in the first two races of the weekend and again trailed his rival through the opening laps of Race 3.
The Dunlop Series team owner then made the winning move into the final complex of corners on Lap 9 of 15 and was not headed for the duration.
“We had an engine problem in practice so we spent more time chasing that than working on setup,” explained White after the flag.
“Ryan set the pace but we got there in the end. We had a bit more pace for a change in that final race.”
Simpson came home second to seal the round win and take second in the season points standings, despite having missed the opening two rounds.

Tony Evangelou completed the weekend podium after holding out debutant Jack Le Brocq in the final.
Le Brocq appeared to have the pace in the opening laps before a lock-up into Dandenong Road corner slowed his charge.
The 21-year-old had earlier tangled with Shae Davies in Race 2, resulting in a seventh palce finish.
Le Brocq and Davies eventually finished fourth and fifth respectively for the round, with the latter having wrapped up the title on Saturday.
Sixth for the round was enough for Terry Wyhoon to hold out Evangelou for third in the series standings.
Despite a spin in Race 3, Matt Chada took seventh overall in his first weekend aboard a BA model Falcon.
Matt Hansen, Steve Briffa and Maurie Pickering completed the weekend’s top 10, while Gerard McLeod’s maiden Kumho Series appearance was hampered by mechanical failures in both Sunday races.
