DJR #17 and Erebus #47 return in Practice 6

Erebus Motorsport’s Tim Slade/Andrew Thompson Mercedes and Dick Johnson Racing’s Chaz Mostert/Dale Wood Ford both returned to the track in Saturday morning’s final practice at Bathurst.

The two teams worked through the night to have the cars repaired from their heavy accidents on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Both cars spent the opening half of the 50 minutes ducking in and out of the pits, with Slade eventually putting down a best of 2:11.51s before handing over to Thompson.

The DJR Ford required longer spells in its garage during the session, with its eventual 2:13.38s best coming on its final lap with Wood at the wheel.

At the front, an early Top 10 Shootout simulation run from David Reynolds saw The Bottle-O Ford sit atop the order for all but the opening minutes.

Jamie Whincup drew closest as the time wound down, eventually falling just 0.07s short of Reynolds’ 2:08.68s effort despite complaining of oil on the circuit at Griffin’s Bend.

Fabian Coulthard, Shane van Gisbergen and Will Davison completed the top five.

Teams cycled their primary and co-drivers through the cars during the final practice, with IRWIN Racing’s Craig Baird the only one of the 58 drivers not to turn a lap.

Top 10 Shootout runner Scott McLaughlin spent most of the session at the bottom of the time sheets due to a broken front splitter on the #33 Holden causing a front-end vibration.

All 50 minutes were run under green flag conditions.
